We just celebrated our 66^th Republic Day. We were all excited to bring home the tri-colour in the form of Flag, Kites etc. I am really happy to see that twice a year, at least, we become a little nationalistic. 80% of my FB and What’sApp friend list had changed their profile icons to wafted Indian Flag including myself. Our children were preparing patriotic songs for school functions… sounds good… and we also evoke our old childhood memories with them… same songs we also used to prepare for our school functions… isn’t it? But is this all we have to do for our country? Is this all responsibility we have towards our nation?

I really deem “Are we really worth this Independence”? There are some questions that I would like to put forwards to you all. This is not for my any kind of political interest or becoming popular… it’s just some thoughts gathered by observing people’s behaviour and the way they think for the society. Some questions… which I think every Indian must ask to themselves. Not for anything else but to try to give better city, better country, in fact, a better place to them to live in…

1. Why do we jump red lights when we know the rules so well?
2. Why do we clean our homes and throw the garbage on roads?
3. Why do we not install water-tank alarm?
4. Why do we overload an e-rick or phat-phat seva?
5. Why don’t we stop the rickshaw puller to take us from the wrong side just because that’s the short route?
6. Why don’t we collectively fight against the encroachment of sweet-shop owners in our area? Will we be silent if they try to encroach our car parking area?
7. Why do we get irritated on seeing a pet dog around our car or house? Do we have any control over street dogs? Come on…. they are not even vaccinated… pets, at least are…
8. Why do we not get the road cleaned up after a function organised at our neighbourhood road? We sturdily think that using public roads for our personal functions is our Birth Right.. right… uhh.
9. Why do we want every action to be taken by police or government?

Though I have many… but I am just beginning with 10 now… the list will keep coming… it’s a food for thought… you can also add up to this list of questions… I am sure we all want this place a better place to Live not just
