It was holiday. I, along with my husband, went to the nearby mandir in the locality (sometimes we do…). After Puja, while returning, we took the way from the park instead of road. The weather was awesome, though not a common thing in April, we decided to sit in the park for 10 min. And lo… we were there for almost 2.5 hrs… just chatting, gossiping, discussing, laughing and enjoying the feeling of togetherness.
No…No…No… don’t jump into conclusions. It’s not that I enjoyed this time with hubby after loooong time and that’s why I am sharing it with you. I, very often, acquire the time to spend with family. I remember my father’s words “Waqt milta nahi hai… churana padta hai”. And I am always able to Churayo the Waqt from the hectic schedules of work and home and I realise that it is of utmost importance.
“Work Family Balance” is a term not to be ignored by any men or women. When you are in any job, you are also expected not only to fulfil your family responsibilities but also to spend quality time with your family. It is not a social obligation but as a family person, it is very important.
What I want to talk here is a broader term i.e. “Work Life Balance”. This is more holistic expression that embraces ability to integrate work and overall life that includes responsibilities towards yourself, your family and your society/community. It refers to your jobs towards children, spouse, aging parents etc.
Those who are able to maintain this balance are always happy people… happy from in and out. Your face glows and the whole personality electrifies and your surroundings become cheerful and you make others jovial and…. I can go on and on and on… you can understand how important it is to be happy and cheery.
So achieve this balance and happiness as part of the package, we must follow some principals:
- Plan your every day of the week and must keep time for your family and friends, and activities that help you recharge. A dinner date with spouse or badminton match with kids or a name/place/animal/thing game with family are some deeds that will give you reason to revitalize.
- Give a second thought to your responsibilities. Can some stuff be purchased online and have them delivered.. You may have dry cleaning picked up and dropped off at home or office.. give more jobs to the house-maid.. stop moving behind the maid while she is working…
- Drop works that sucks your time and energy. Stop the activities that add no value…. stop gossiping… cut down on time spent on social media…
- Exercise / Meditate daily. It boosts your energy levels and concentration powers even with the jam-packed schedules.
- Rejuvenate…Revive. Leave office early – once in a week; Go for a SPA – once in a month; Go on short break – once in a quarter; Go on a long holiday – once in a year
